Bridging Legacy and Leadership Through Storytelling

When Voyage Baltimore reached out to feature me in their “Hidden Gems” interview series, I felt deeply honored—not just because it’s a nod to the work we’ve been doing, but because it allowed me to reflect on the journey that led to founding Northstar Network.

But beyond the interview, I wanted to share more about the heart of this work—and how my upbringing, education, and early career experiences shaped what Northstar is today.

Rooted in Baltimore, Built with Intention

I’m a proud Baltimore-based entrepreneur with deep Detroit roots—two cities that taught me how to move with both grit and grace. I come from a long line of people who’ve had to make a way, and that drive shows up in everything I do.

In the Voyage Baltimore feature, I mentioned how Northstar Network began as a “feeling before it was a firm.” That still rings true. This wasn’t a company I built out of convenience—it was born from necessity. I spent years in corporate spaces where culture was not a unifier, and impact was often an afterthought. I knew there had to be another way.

What We Do at Northstar

At Northstar Network, we are a Black-owned consultancy rooted in cultural strategy, digital innovation, and community-driven storytelling. We help brands, institutions, and nonprofits create intentional, inclusive, and impactful campaigns that resonate with real people.

Our work spans sectors—from municipals and education to technology and automotive—but our approach remains consistent: center on people, move with purpose, and design for long-term impact.

A few of the ways we do this:

  • Guiding organizations through moments of change by helping them clarify their mission, align their teams, and build strategies that move both people and purpose forward. Whether it’s a new initiative or a full-scale transformation, the goal is always to make vision actionable.

  • Unearthing brand stories that feel lived-in and real—rooted in audience understanding, cultural truth, and long-term relevance. This isn’t about surface-level polish; it’s about creating something that speaks to who you are and who you’re here for.

  • Crafting creative that resonates deeply, not just loudly. Whether it’s an IRL activation, an influencer drop, or a campaign built for digital virality, the work is grounded in culture and designed to connect.

  • Translating ideas into digital ecosystems that serve, engage, and expand impact. From content strategy to platform development, the digital layer isn’t an afterthought—it’s a core part of how we activate community and scale meaningful work.

    Why “Northstar”?

The name Northstar holds weight. Historically, the North Star was a guide—an anchor for those seeking freedom. Today, our work serves as a similar guide for organizations looking to operate with clarity, integrity, and cultural relevance.

As I shared in the interview, I’m a firm believer in legacy. And legacy isn’t just what you build—it’s how you build it. That’s what we’re doing here.

    Lessons Along the Way

The path hasn’t been linear. I’ve had to unlearn a lot and trust my instincts even when the blueprint wasn’t clear. I’ve learned that just because something hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done now.

My academic foundation, from the University of Michigan to a digital strategy certification at George Washington University, provided me with the necessary tools. But it’s been community, culture, and curiosity that have shaped the vision.
